Event: International Council for Traditions of Music and Dance Festival

About

Held at Chiang Mai University in partnership with Chulalongkorn University, the International Council for Traditions of Music and Dance (ICTMD) Festival is an upcoming Joint Symposium to be held in Chiang Mai, Thailand held to showcase musical talents and provide cross-cultural music exchanges. I was part of a team sent up to Chiang Mai to do early preparations and research for the event.

What I Did

I led a team that was tasked with researching and taking videos and photos of the air and rail transport options to Chiang Mai, as well as the accommodation options in Chiang Mai. We also helped other teams who were short on time research and film certain other locations, such as an excursion place.

Our objective was to make it easier for participants to travel to the festival. We did our prior research on all these topics, before heading out to do our fieldwork where we took photos, videos and notes.

My Efforts:

  • Assisted in the creation of the event website.
  • Scouted for travel methods, excursion locations and accommodations locations
  • Conducted research on places we would be scouting
  • Took photos and made videos of each scouted place for use on the website
  • Created infographics and guides for the participants

Challenges:

The website content management system had limits to the amount of people who could edit, slowing down our work. I had also never been to Chiang Mai, so I was not familiar with the local locations.

Event Materials:

Infographics

I made these to show users how to navigate the often hard to use website to book railway tickets in Thailand, since this was a potential travel option for many heading up to Chiang Mai.

Website

Together with my teammates, we planned and each did our own research to contribute content to the website.

Videos

These are some of the videos me and my team produced for the event and its participants. After doing extensive research, we compiled a shot list and did our filming.

Photos

We also took photos, which were later used for website content, the video and infographics.
