I recently stumbled upon this building right behind Maxwell Food Center after a restaurant on the ground floor was giving away free burritos.
Right behind Maxwell Food Centre, what was once the former St. Andrews Mission Hospital has been turned into a popular lifestyle destination with a hotel, bars, restaurants and a gym. It also houses the oldest lift in Singapore, built by a company founded in the 18th century.
I thought it looked pretty photogenic, so here are some pictures from my visits.

The exterior of the building, which was formerly the St Andrews Mission Hospital. The gated car park has been converted to a mixed use grass patch, with benches and beanbags. The rooms at the HABYT hotel that once housed patients. Looking down towards the ground floor in the airy and sun lit lobby. Symmetry on the third floor.Common space at the hotel corridors. All the staircases in the building are painted a vibrant blue, with lights to match. Very liminal. The weights for the nearly 100 year old elevator, built by Smiths Major and Stevens Ltd, a now defunct British elevator company founded in 1770. The view from the rooftop of the building overlooking Chinatown and Tanjong Pagar. The top floor of the building, which houses a cafe and bar. If you decide to take a piss here, the gents toilet has a great view. Singapore’s oldest lift, with manually operated doors and a wooden antique interior. Installed in 1927, it aided tuberculosis patients to get up to the top floor to enjoy fresh air and sunshine. Another liminal stairwell.The second floor of the place, which houses a gym.
